PLOT

Sazae initially placed a higher priority on spending time with her horse than on getting ready in a kimono and makeup to attract her future partner. Hasegawa was ahead of her time when she predicted that the Isono/Fuguta family would represent the contemporary Japanese family after World War II. Being a very emancipated lady, Sazae was often depicted as bossing her husband around, much to the chagrin of her neighbors who thought a man should be in charge of his home. Later, Sazae converted to feministism and encountered numerous amusing incidents as a result of her membership in her neighborhood women's liberation club.
