PLOT
It offers a look at the Saiyuuki quartet before their formation and their journey to the west because it takes place in the past. Beginning with Sanzo and his master, as well as Ukoku, is the first OVA (known as a later Ni Jianyi). Goku and Sanzo initially meet in the second OVA. The third OVA examines what transpired following Hakkai's transgressions, his trial (which we already know about from the first season of "Saiyuuki"), and his choice to reside in Gojyo's home.
