PLOT

In order to learn the real tale of the Vice Commander Hijikata Toshizou, the Demon of the Shinsengumi, a young woman follows down the elderly Nagakura Shinpachi in 1912. The beginning of Hijikata's story takes place in 1859, when he is still a rough young man selling his family's medicine and sharpening his sword abilities. A short while later, Hijikata begins to interact with individuals who will eventually become his Shinsengumi allies as he searches for greater opponents to battle. Kondo Isami, who shows to be a superior fighter than Hijikata, is the first to leave an impression on the boisterous young guy.
