PLOT
In the year 2205, a unique sage by the name of Saniwa has the power to give inanimate objects life. The Saniwa and their strongest animations—historical Japanese swords in the appearance of dashing young men—are the only ones capable of halting dark forces' plot to travel back in time and alter the course of history. Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru begins with Yamatonokami Yasusada, the cherished uchigatana of Souji Okita, starting his first day at the Saniwa fortress. After quickly reconnecting with Kashuu Kiyomitsu, an old buddy, the two get sucked into the daily shenanigans of their fellow swordsmen. They never pass up the chance to have a good time, whether it is by getting into crazy snowball fights or by welcoming their newest allies to the citadel. Of course, the swords are always prepared to carry out their duty of preserving history when the government calls.
