Yoh Asakura, a shaman and a bridge between the living and the dead, is the center of Shaman King's story. By winning the Shaman Fight, a competition run by the Patch Tribe that takes place once every 500 years, Yoh hopes to become Shaman King, a person able to channel the power of the Great Spirit to transform the world as they like. Yoh's fiancée Anna Kyoyama soon arrives and gives him a strict training schedule to follow in order to get him ready for the competition. This is the beginning of the storyline that will take Yoh on a quest that will introduce him to Manta Oyamada and other shamans such as "Wooden Sword" Ryu, Tao Ren, Horohoro, and Faust VIII.
