PLOT
Most likely, the Chinese history book Sanguo Zhi, which dates back to ancient Japan, served as the inspiration for The Legend of Himiko. The foreign kingdom of Kune threatens the state of Yamatai (probably based on the nation of Kunekoku). The inhabitants of Yamatai strive to appoint a Queen to rule their kingdom, who will be chosen by the enigmatic Bokka, in an effort to fend off an invasion. But before the Queen can be chosen, the Kune army invade Yamatai, and the Bokka scatter the six contenders around the country. Masahiko Kutani discovers Himiko, a newborn girl who has been transported to the present by the Bokka, along with the pendant she is wearing.
