PLOT
The Smurfs (French: Les Schtroumpfs) is a comic and television franchise centered around a group of small blue creatures created by Belgian cartoonist Peyo (Pierre Culliford), first introduced in comic strips on October 23, 1958. The term "schtroumpf" originated from a humorous incident during a meal between Peyo and his friend André Franquin, where Peyo forgot the word "salt" and instead asked for the "schtroumpf." They spent the weekend speaking in this playful language. The name was later translated into Dutch as "Smurf," which became the term used in English. The franchise has since expanded into various media, including animated series and films, becoming a beloved part of popular culture.
