The protagonist become scattered due to a fierce attack from the group of demons. Kagome startlingly discovers that Izumo becomes a hanyō named Gyu-oh at nightfall, who intends to create a true Shikon Jewel by using Kagome's spiritual abilities and the souls of her friends. When dawn approaches, Gyu-oh reverts back to human form as Izumo, passing away due to the toxin of the fake Shikon Jewels.
