Purple Ant boasts to Thea that he killed Hearth six months ago after she was betrayed by Guido, though Hearth promised that Klaus and Thea would return to avenge her. However, Thea reveals that she figured out Hearth's plan, so she mimicked Hearth's voice to break Corpse's brainwashing and turn him to her side, and had him capture her a ruse to lure Purple Ant into the open. Klaus then arrives to back up Thea and Purple Ant flees. After being cornered, Purple assembles his most elite operatives, the General Ants. Corpse and the rest of Lamplight then arrive to even the odds, and a all out battle breaks out. Corpse sacrifices himself to protect Thea, while Klaus reveals he has learned all of the skills Lamplight demonstrated trying to attack him, easily defeating the General Ants and capturing Purple Ant. Lamplight leaves the United States after making an agreement with the US government to cover up Purple Ant's murders by pinning them on Lily's cover identity. Thea then mentions to Klaus that Hearth promised to give her a present if they ever met again, and he shows her a secret compartment in Hearth's room containing and key and a message congratulating Thea. Thea then cries in Klaus' chest, finally feeling relief that she was able to live up to Hearth's expectations.
