The episode opens with Futaro Uesugi on his wedding day, waking from a dream about the day that he met his bride (whose identity is obscured). The narrative then flashes back to Futaro’s schooldays; in the cafeteria, he encounters Itsuki Nakano when she sits at his usually-solitary lunch table. Seeing his perfect score on a recent test paper, she asks him to help her study, and offers to share her lunch; however, he is rude to her and she becomes upset with him.
